This is a favorite summertime trip. Portland and the Northern Willamette River Valley have become my favorite American wine-growing region. Join us this summer and see why. This trip is very limited and available to ten lucky people.
Six nights, with all ground transportation included.
We'll visit ten wineries in all with special VIP reception at every one of them. We really get to experience the Willamette Valley like a professional; taste with the winemakers, sample Pinot Noirs from the barrels (lots of it!), sample fantastic white wines and sublime reds. At some stops we get to taste single vineyard wines in the actual vineyards. There really is no shortage of wine on this trip!
Of course, The Wine Guru and other local experts show the way and help you find some of the unique treasures that Portland and the Willamette Valley offer. When you're tasting these wines with the man (or woman in a lot of cases) who made them, it brings a whole new level of understanding to the enjoyment of wine.
Wineries on our tour this summer include Ponzi Vineyards, Adelsheim Vineyards, Hamacher, Chehalem, Domaine Drouhin, Domaine Serene, Sokol Blosser, Carlton Winemaker's Studio, Elk Cove Vineyards, Willa Kenzie and Penner-Ash. We always find lots of surprises along the way! You'll have the opportunity to purchase wines from our hosts and join several optional wine clubs to assure future delivery of their special wines. (Based on individual availability from our host wineries.)
And we get some great food too. Special meals have been planned and paired with wines at restaurants that include: Dundee Bistro, featuring Ponzi Vineyards, The Painted Lady, featuring the wines of Chehalem, Red Hills Provincial Dining, Henry's Tavern and Andina, picnic lunches in the vineyards and winery lunches. Even with all the walking, I promise you won't be hungry!
Hotels include three nights in the wine-country town of Newberg, about an hour south of Portland and in the heart of the Northern Willamette Valley. This keeps us close to our daily tours of the vineyards and wineries of the area. The hotel serves a continental breakfast and has an indoor swimming pool and spa. It also has a fitness center and WiFi. We're lucky enough to spend the other three nights in downtown Portland at the Historic Benson Hotel. This ultra-luxe hotel is sumptuous and comfortable and oh-so nice! The lobby was voted "the best place to sit and pretend you're really rich!" Click on the link above and check out the rooms - they all have Temperpedic beds. Wow.
If you've got any questions about this once in a lifetime chance to visit this part of the world like a wine pro, email me at michael@tampawineguru.com I'll see what I can do to persuade you to join us.
